Judge Brian M. Cogan is a United States district judge serving on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He was nominated by President George W. Bush on January 25, 2006, to a seat vacated by Frederic Block and confirmed by the United States Senate on May 4, 2006. Cogan received his commission on June 7, 2006.

Cogan graduated from University of Illinois in 1975 and received his law degree from Cornell Law School in 1979.
Before being appointed to the federal bench, Cogan was a partner of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP in New York City.
Cogan has two sons. His oldest son, Jacob, attends Columbia University. Cogan also has two younger brothers: Michael and Scott. Both of Cogan's brothers live in Chicago.
